Folks on Sea - Coffee shop refurb concept design | St Leonards
A refurbishment that enhances the character and comfort of a beloved St Leonards café.
Folks on Sea is a much-loved, community-led coffee shop and social hub in the heart of St Leonards. We were invited to help reimagine the space — developing a concept that improves flow, enhances comfort, and makes more of the character that already makes Folks such a welcoming place to gather.
Our approach focused on creating a natural rhythm between the counter, seating, and circulation — opening up the space while introducing new places to pause, meet, and connect.
The design introduces a refined material palette of pared-back, muted tones balanced with dark, rich timber detailing — creating warmth, depth, and a sense of quiet character. A new window seat has been introduced, offering the perfect spot to pause with a coffee and watch the world go by.
Through a series of subtle but purposeful changes, the refurbishment enhances how the space feels and functions — staying true to the spirit of the Folks community while giving it a fresh sense of ease and coherence.
